PDF Copy Available of “Student Engagement and the Opportunity Gap”

My last three posts have addressed the opportunity gap and student engagement in schools. To read each post in chronological order, click here, here, and then here. This series was spurred by a writing activity I was asked to complete for a district leadership position I interviewed for today.

Click here to access the combined and final version of all three posts in PDF format. It’s too long (~3500 words) to submit to a magazine or journal for possible publication. Thank you to the commenters on the original posts for offering helpful feedback during the writing process. Also, thank you to Regie Routman for granting me permission to utilize her change process template from her book Read, Write, Lead: Breakthrough Strategies for Schoolwide Literacy Success.
